Shakespeare's Globe

The Globe is a modern replica of the theatre where some of Shakespeare's plays were staged for the first time. The original theatre was built in 1599 by the Lord Chamberlain's Men, Shakespeare's playing company. The present-day theatre was established by Sam Wanamaker, an American actor and director, who made it his mission to restore the original Elizabethan theatre when he moved to the UK. The building was finished in 1997 and in 2014, an indoor theatre called Sam Wanamaker Playhouse was added to the site. If you want to watch a performance, just visit the theatre's website and stream some of Shakespeare's finest plays online.
