Museo ICO

Founded in 1996 originally to display the permanent collection of the Official Credit Institute (the Spanish acronym being ICO), the Museo ICO has since been supported by the ICO Foundation for Contemporary Spanish Art to curate, catalog, and study the greatest contributions to 20th century Spanish art, resulting in the renowned ICO Collections. Since 2012, the museum itself has taken a different trajectory, focusing on exhibitions around the theme of architecture and urban planning. In addition to providing academic perspectives on contemporary architecture, the Museo ICO also exhibits photography dealing with the same broad theme of urbanism.

Located a short 10 minute walk from the Plaza de Cibeles, the interior of the building is itself a masterclass on minimalist design, with its striking white décor and open plan spaces lending absolute focus to the content of the exhibitions while maintaining a synergy with their shared themes.
